Privacy Policy

How HiBeaver collects, uses, protects, and deletes personal information, including data received from the accounts you sign in with or connect.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies when you use the HiBeaver website, web application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). It explains what information HiBeaver processes, why it is needed, and the choices available to you.

2. Information we process

Account information

When you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive the information needed to create and maintain your HiBeaver account: your email address, your display name, and — where the provider shares one — your profile image.

Learning and user-created content

We process the settings, progress, answers, notes, memories, stories, recordings, feedback, and other content you choose to create or save in the Service.

Technical information

We may process limited device, browser, network, request, security, and diagnostic information needed to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the Service. We also use cookies or local storage where necessary for login sessions and app preferences.

3. Optional Reddit connection

Connecting Reddit is optional and separate from signing in to HiBeaver. HiBeaver uses Reddit OAuth, so you grant permission on Reddit and do not give your Reddit password to HiBeaver.

When you connect Reddit, the only Reddit account data HiBeaver retains for the connection is:

  • your Reddit account ID and username;
  • an encrypted Reddit refresh token; and
  • minimum operational metadata, such as the granted permissions and connection timestamps.

Short-lived access tokens are used only as needed and are not retained as account data.

HiBeaver does not keep a long-term database copy of Reddit posts or comments. Community content is requested from Reddit when you open the relevant screen and may be held only in short-lived technical caches for performance and rate-limit protection.

HiBeaver uses the Reddit connection to show content from the configured community and, only when you explicitly request it, to publish a post or comment through your Reddit account. We do not use Reddit data to train artificial intelligence models, build advertising profiles, or sell personal information.

4. How we use information

We use information to:

  • authenticate users and maintain accounts;
  • provide learning, review, feedback, and community features requested by users;
  • save and synchronize progress and preferences;
  • secure the Service, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures;
  • respond to feedback and support requests; and
  • comply with applicable law and enforce our Terms.

5. When information is shared

We share information only as needed with service providers that support authentication, infrastructure, storage, security, and features you request. They may process information only to provide those services to HiBeaver. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users or the Service, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.

Posts and comments you submit to Reddit are sent to Reddit and may become public according to the subreddit and account settings you choose. HiBeaver does not sell your personal information.

6. Retention and deletion

Account and learning information is retained while needed to provide the Service or until it is deleted, subject to limited security, legal, fraud-prevention, and backup requirements. Technical records are retained only for as long as reasonably needed for those purposes.

Reddit connection information is retained until you disconnect Reddit or ask us to remove it. Disconnecting deletes the active connection data and token held by HiBeaver and stops future Reddit API access through your account. Disconnecting HiBeaver does not delete posts or comments already published on Reddit. You control that content from your Reddit account.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted transport and server-side encryption for Reddit refresh tokens. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

8. Your choices and requests

You may update available profile settings, delete individual content where the Service provides that control, disconnect Reddit, or request access, correction, or deletion of information associated with your account. Submit a request through the Feedback option in HiBeaver. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account owner.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please notify us through the Feedback option in HiBeaver.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the Service changes. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. For privacy questions or requests, use the Feedback option in HiBeaver and include “Privacy request” in your message.
